This declaration was made in their solidarity statement delivered by the acting chairman of PDP Gambia Chapter, at a press conference held on Friday at the party’s head office in Churchill’s Town.
The PDP Gambia Chapter also presented a book entitled “Nigeria’s Messiahs”, which highlights the achievements of the Jonathan-Sambo administration.
Delivering the solidarity statement, Hon. Felix Oyejide Omotosho, said: “The entire body of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) of Nigeria, The Gambia’s Chapter comprising its (Grand Patron, the patrons, the executives and the General) as well as other well-meaning Nigerians living in The Gambia, do openly declare His Excellency and our party leader, the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Dr Goodluck Ebele Azikwe Jonathan (GCFR), with his running mate and Nigeria’s Vice president, architect Mohammed Namadi Sambo (GCON) as both standard bearers for our noble party (the PDP) for the forthcoming March 28th, 2015 presidential election.”
He said they unequivocally, as a chapter, requested them to carry their flags flying high and re-contest for the election, in order for the team to continue the good leadership that PDP, as a ruling and largest-most formidable party in Africa, has been providing at the centre for the past sixteen years.
He said Dr Goodluck Jonathan had done their party proud by not only just sustaining that continued vibrant-people’s-oriented leadership that PDP has offered and Africa as a continent, but President Jonathan has been able to put an intellectual touch to a pragmatic and pro-active leadership with a paradigmatic human-face approach.
He said it is important to note that a viable economic blueprint is a necessary condition for political stability and national security.
In the face of chronic challenges, with the embarrassing spate of insurgency attacks by the “bestial” Boko Haram sect, whose activities are being submerged, if not almost uprooted from their soils in the last three weeks by the current waves of the Nigeria’s military bombardment awakenings under the empowerments of their commander-in-chief President Jonathan,Mr Omotoso said the president had “courageously and bravely” carried on with his reform programmes, and put the country together as a one entity and a giant of Africa.
He said President Jonathan had achieved for Nigeria and Nigerians an economic giant status, by making Nigeria not only the hub of Africa’s economic growth and democracy - which are necessary conditions for political survival and electoral advancement -but as the largest and most viable economy in the black world as confirmed by the World Bank report in 2013.
Samuel Ishaku, Youth Leader of PDP Gambia Chapter, presenting a book entitled “Nigeria’s Messiahs”, said with reference to the ongoing electioneering campaigns in Nigeria following the forthcoming presidential elections, and the need to further propagate the achievements of President Goodluck Jonathan/Namadi Sambo’s administration to score the much-desired victory at the polls, they wished to request for an opportunity to present a book they have recently completed in The Gambia.
He added that beyond the proposed book presentation, they further deemed it very worthwhile to make the book available to the Nigerian electorate.
He said the book is an illumination of the amazing achievements of the Goodluck Jonathan-Namadi-Sambo administration in Nigeria, which strongly spotlights 100 laudable accomplishments of their administration.
