Bakoteh Lower Basic and Upper Basic schools emerged champions of the 3rd edition of the annual FutBolNet tournament organized by the Olymafrica Center at Serrekunda East.

In the grand final played in a fanfare atmosphere on Sunday at the Serrekunda East mini stadium, Bakoteh Lower Basic School defeated St Therese’s Lower Basic in penalty kicks 3-1, after each team collected three points in the game.

In the upper basic category final, Bakoteh knocked out Greater Banjul from the top podium to clinch the trophy.

They drew 2-2 on goals and 3-3 on points before Bakoteh emerged victorious 4-3 in the penalty kicks.

Both winners ( Bakoteh lower and upper basic)  were given a trophy and certificate as the champions; the runners-up Greater Banjul and St Therese’s  also went home with a trophy and  certificate.

New Covenant Lower Basic School was voted as the most disciplined team in their category, while Latrikunda Sabiji Upper Basic School claimed the most disciplined team title.

It would be recalled that all the  28 schools were identified in a pilot project introducing FutBolNet in The Gambia three years ago, and they participated in the 2015 edition.

The final was graced by GFF Women’s football coordinator Chorro Mbenga, who took the official kick off, GNOC officials, school heads and teachers among other dignitaries.
