He said on 14 January 2012, he came on afternoon duty and was posted at the hotel reception.

He was there until in the evening, and was feeling cold. Then he asked his supervisor to wait for him, so that he could go to his locker to take his jacket.

Later, he told the court, he saw a vehicle coming from the hotel, and asked a tourists police officer to stop it.

He added that he and the police officer ran after the vehicle, and he was able to catch up with the vehicle, and it stopped.

He said he got inside the vehicle, which belongs to the hotel, and Ebrima Dampha, a driver of the hotel, was driving the said vehicle.

The witness further told the court that there were drums of diesel, adding that he saw two 20-litre containers and a 30-litre container in the vehicle.

He said he asked the driver to return the diesel, but he refused.

He added that they went up to the Bakau Car Wash and  stopped.

He told the court that there was push and pull, and that he told the driver to go to the police station, but he again refused.

He said he then locked all the doors of the vehicle, and kept the key, and phoned his supervisor who later came with the police.

The driver was then arrested, and taken to the police station.
