Emmanuel Ahmadi of the special criminal court in Banjul yesterday adjourned the
trial of the deputy editor-in-chief of the Daily Observer newspaper, Alhagie
Jobe, and one Mbye Bittaye, for judgment.
This followed the address made by both the prosecution and the defence counsel.
The case was then adjourned to 10 September 2014.
After the address, the counsel for deputy editor Jobe told the court that he wanted to apply for bail for Jobe, so that he could spend the Muslim month with his family.
The trial judge told him to file a written application.
Alhagie Jobe was arraigned on a five-count charge of making an act with seditious intention; seditious publication; and possession of seditious publication; giving false information to a public servant, and of recklessness and negligence.
Mbye Bittaye was arraigned on a single count of making preparations to do an act with seditious intention.
