NYC issues official stance on ‘call for protest march’

Apr 20, 2016, 10:50 AM

The Gambia National Youth Council (NYC) has learnt with total regret of a publication on social media by Mr Ibrahim Ceesay, calling the Gambians and youth in particular, for a protest march on Monday 18th April 2016.

The NYC would like to unequivocally state that it has no association whatsoever with such calls and hereby condemn this move in the strongest terms.

While the NYC advises all Gambians and young people in particular to stay calm and law-abiding, the NYC invites the young people to note that the peace, security and progress of our dear country should be jealously safeguarded.

The young people are at liberty to approach the NYC for redress, in a mutual manner, of any issues of concern they may have.

Meanwhile, all are informed that the NYC has brought this unfortunate development to the attention of the Ministry of Youth & Sports for appropriate guidance.
