Lamin Darboe made this remark recently during the congress of West Coast Regional Youth Committee held at Eastern Foni Federation in Kalagi. A new executive was elected to steer the affairs of the regional youth committee.
Mr Darboe underscored NYC’s continued resolve in partnering with the regional youth committee in West Coast and all other regions to promote the welfare of the young people.
The NYC boss said it is the mandate of the council to stand by the young people of The Gambia.
The chairperson of NYC, Fabakary Kalleh, lauded the West Coast youth committee for “acting positively during the entire process of the congress”.
The outgoing youth and sports coordinator of the region, Mamudu Jawla, told the congress they are one family and going to election should not make them enemies.
A representative of the Eastern Foni Federation, Momodou Lamin Badjie, said young people are an integral part of the national development of any country.
The newly-elected chairperson, Albino F. Gomez, thanked the delegates for bestowing trust and confidence in him.
“I promise to work in partnership with you to promote unity and development in the region,” he said.
Mr Gomez said his first task would be to embark on a familiarisation tour of the region and discuss issues with the young people whose interest he is ready to protect.
The other newly-elected executive committee members are: Kaddy Sanneh, vice chairperson; Alagie Jarjue, public relations officer, and Isatou Saidy, treasurer.
