The Colorado Rapids are set to begin a four-day preseason trip to California on Tuesday before the start of the United States MLS in mid-March.

Sanna Nyassi and the Rapids will play San Jose Earthquakes and will also play two other reserve games, according to www.coloradorapids.com.

The 22-year-old Gambia footballer will also face his former club, the Seattle Sounders, on 9 March 2011, all in the MLS Preseason.

The Rapids will face the Portland Timbers in the season opener on March 19 at the DSG Park.

Nyassi was acquired by the Rapids on 24 November 2010 in a trade with the Vancouver Whitecaps FC in exchange for an international roster slot.

He joined the Rapids following a draft day deal with the Vancouver Whitecaps FC after emerging the team’s first overall selection in the 2010 MLS Expansion Draft coming from the Seattle Sounders FC, but he was dealt hours later to Colorado.

Ahead of their pre-season trip, the Rapids are set on securing the services of Caleb Folan, a big target man from Hull City as early as the first part of next week, according to Rapids head coach Gary Smith on MLSsoccer.com.
