The goal was netted by Dodou Gomez in two minutes twenty-six seconds at the start of the game, a chance Omar Sambou created rolling the ball to Dodou Gomez who finally netted the goal for Nyaffulen.
The game was later dominated by Santa-Su A, though Nyaffulen tried to increase their chances, but on the same track, Santa-Su A failed to penetrate in three chances that would have at least led them in defeating their opponents.
In another development, other matches played during the weekend featured Santa-Su B against Sanchaba A, which ended 1-0 in favour of Sanchaba A.
Nyaffulen vs Sanchaba B ended goalless, followed by Wullinkama beating Sanchaba A 1-0.
Speaking to reporters at the end of the game, the coach of Santa-Su A, Saikou Sanneh, expressed satisfaction at the performance of his boys, though they did not perform up to expectations.
He however expressed dissatisfaction with the referee’s rulings.
For his part, Kajali Darboe, a member of the technical committee, said the main aim of the tournament is to select a good town team which will be representing the town in mega football events.
“This can only be done when the players have the criteria, which will be based on talent and discipline,” he said.
He revealed that after the zonal battle, fifty talented players will be selected from which they will be able to get the last twenty-five players for the town.
He urged all the teams to show respect and discipline, “which is the backbone of the game”.
“One could only be selected through his performance and discipline,” Darboe said.
