NOC Stages Planning Meeting Ahead Of Queen's Baton Visit

The Gambia National Olympic Committee as part of preparations geared towards the second visit of the Queen's Baton in Banjul, will today stage an information planning meeting at the Olympic House.

The baton is set to visit The Gambia from 11th -15th December 2009, and will travel in excess of 190,00km over a period of 340 days.

The Queen's Baton Relay 2010 Delhi is one of the great traditions of the Commonwealth Games and has been a curtain-raiser to all Commonwealth Games since 1958.

The Queen's Baton, which is warming up for Delhi 2010 visited The Gambia first time in April 2005 when HE President Jammeh became the first Head of State in the Commonwealth to run with the Baton.

The information planning meeting, according to GNOC, will set more light on the advantages of the international commercial value attached to this historic event.
