Gambia international forward Njogu Demba is out of OB’s UEFA Europa League home clash against the Young Boys of Switzerland tonight.
The 31-year-old attacker, who featured in his club’s Europa league games against Stuttgart and the first leg match against the Young Boys, could not feature in Coach Uffe Pedersen’s squad for Thursday’s European League match against Swiss Young Boys.
Jonas Troest and Demba-Nyrén are the only two players that are not part of the 33-man extended squad which will be cut down to 18 for tonight’s battle at TRE-FOR Park.
Group games in the Europe League have reached a halfway combat with all teams in group H having met just once.
OB opened the second half of the game programme with a home game against Young Boys of Switzerland, who defeated them 4-2 in their first leg in October.
The Danish super liga side are yet to record a single point in the European championship in three matches. They are at the bottom of group H. Stuttgart top the group with 9 points and seconded by the Young Boys with 6. Spanish side Getafe a third with 3 points.
OB’s coach, Uffe Pedersen, has told players on the club’s website not to fear the Young Boys
“If we must compare with Danish conditions, we can see that it is a sub-top team in Switzerland. They are not in the top right now, and it’s a team with which we should measure ourselves. So it would be reasonable to expect that we must at least be able to play straight up with them at TRE-FOR Park.
They have a fine team but they are no better than us as we could beat them,” Coach Pedersen said.
