NISA to host 700 delegates from Senegal

The National Inter-departmental Sports Association (NISA) is expected to host about 700 delegates from 14 regions in Senegal, as part of the July 22nd Sports Championships in Banjul.

The delegates, who are part of the Federation of the Senegalese Workers’ Sports, will be guest of their Gambian counterparts who are twice champions.

Saihou B. Jarjue, secretary general of NISA, ahead of the event, held a meeting with the president of the Sports Journalists Association of The Gambia, Sainabou Kujabi-Njie, general secretary Abdoulie Bah, and Asst SG Baboucarr Camara on the need for the formation of a media sub-committee last week.

Other NISA members, Momodou Faal and Abdourahman Sanyang, also attended the meeting.

During the meeting, he said the event will be a sub-regional one and it is part of The Gambia’s turn to host colleagues from Senegal.

He said 50 delegates from each of the 14 regions will arrive in Banjul on 21 July 2012 for the four-day affair.

“There will be a high presence of the Senegalese media; in fact they have started the sensitization campaign for the event in their country,” he stated.

The event will unearth competitions football from 12 regions in Senegal plus the four semi-finalists of NISA: Immigration, GAF, Gambia Civil Aviation and Gam Petroleum.

A marathon contest from St Peters to Westfield in which all the 24 registered companies of NISA and the 14 regions from Senegal will be represented, is open to the general public.

There will be cycling race from the Airport to Kairaba Avenue, Volleyball and Draught in which 8 teams will be presented from Senegal and The Gambia.

Participants will also contest in scrabble which will be contested in both English and fresh dimensions.

Other disciplines will include Lawn Tennis, Table Tennis, Pull (to be Introduced) and Bollot.

According to Jarjue, a proposed friendly match between the Sports Journalists Association of The Gambia and Senegal is also part of the programme.

As part of the media sub-committee, the following have been nominated to serve in the media committee: Baboucarr Camara, Lamin Cham, Hagie Drammeh, Fatou Saho, Alpha Jallow, Abdoulie Fatty, Namory Trawally, and Tombong Jadama.

The committee, charged with the affairs of the publicity campaign, will be inaugurated on Tuesday at 12.00pm at the Independence Stadium in Bakau.
