Nigerian national in court for alleged theft

One Gibriel Osita Alufou, a Nigerian national, was yesterday arraigned before Magistrate Tabally of the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court, charged with stealing.

He denied the charge and was granted court bail of D100,000 with two Gambian sureties who must deposit ID cards and swear to an affidavit of means.

The particulars of offence in count one stated that on 28 August 2014, at Serrekunda and diverse places in the Kanifing Municipality, he stole from one Joseph Ezere the sum of D687,760 being the property of the said Joseph Ezere, and thereby committed an offence.

Count two read that some time in August 2014 he stole the following: five cartons of Sniper mosquito killer valued at D27,600; four cartons of Sunshine air fresher valued at D11,100 and books valued at D2,790 all being the property of the said Joseph Ezere.

The case was adjourned to 11 November 2014, for hearing.
