The opening ceremony was led by Imam Alhiba Hydara of Brikama, who delivered the inaugural sermon.

Imam Hydara reminded Muslims of the significance of such a gesture in the spreading of Islam to the followers of Prophet Muhammad S.A.W.

The quest Imam revealed that constructing a mosque is one thing, but fulfilling or offering constant prayers there, which was the purpose of its construction, is very fundamental.

In his sermon, Imam Hydara elaborated on five rewards or significance of attending the five daily prayers in a mosque.

According to him, if one maintains attending the daily prayers in a mosque he or she would get the blessing of God and would become closer to Him.

He preached that God would uplift his punishments from human beings in the graves if one maintains the five daily prayers in a mosque.

He spoke on the importance of unity in Islam and urged all followers to be as one and show love and care among each other.
