Reports reaching Pointsport desk from the Chairman of Porcupines Basketball, Ben Hooper, has stated that the proposed six-team Invitational Basketball Tournament, which was initially slated for February 5th-15 has been rescheduled to the 12th to 22nd of this month.
According to the Porcupines, their Senegalese counterparts from the Sokone will arrive in The Gambia on 17th February 2010 for a 3-day sporting visit, and are expected to be involved in a basketball match against an All Stars team on Independence Day on 18th February, at the Independence Stadium's Basketball Hall in Bakau.
Meanwhile, all managers of the registered clubs have been requested to attend an emergency meeting with the organising committee on Sunday 7th February, at 3.30pm to brief them about the technical modalities regarding the tournament so as to prevent any infractions on their part during the competition, as such could cause the infringing clubs serious penalties, including fines and their exclusion from further tournaments since the anticipated tournament shall be held annually.
Reports also indicated that the late comers will also be fined as the meeting shall start at 3.30 prompt so as to allow the forum to amply debate on the issues at hand.
Furthermore, no club shall be expected to send a player to represent it at this all important meeting as only team managers are invited to attend.
