The congress, held in Kerewan, North Bank Region, was attended by members of the technical advisory committee and officials of department of youths and sport.
Deputy Governor Mustapha Saidy thanked the department of youths and sport for contributing to the participation of youth to enhance national development agenda.
He called on the youth to make use of the opportunity provided by government in bringing about sustainable livelihood development.
Sheriff Mboge, Regional Youth Committee chairperson, presented their 2012- 2014 activities report.
He said the period has registered significant achievement, citing the registration of youth groups to National Youth Council, establishment of district farms, implementation of VSO Youth Engagement and Participation project at national conferences and festivals.
He disclosed that the RYC has supported various activities, notably Karantaba Youth Development Association of Jokadou.
He thanked district structure of the National Youth Council for their untiring efforts at registering youth groups in the National Youth Council.
The NBR Youth leader commended VSO Youth Engagement and Participation project for building partnership with the youth, saying it has enhanced the registration of youth groups.
He disclosed that the RYC has supported Regional chapter of Peace Ambassadors in commemorating the Day of the African Child and Regional Sports Committee to enhance effective service delivery in youth development.
He thanked the Ministry of Youth and Sports for providing tractors to enhance youth work in food production.
Fabakary Kalleh, chairperson of National Youths Council, calls on the youth to support government’s development initiatives.
He called on the elected committee to be proactive in promoting youth participation and involvement.
Lamin Ceesay, chairperson of Kerewan Area Council, and Mama Manneh, Director of Njawara Agricultural Training Centre, thanked the youth for their steadfastness in contributing to the development objectives at community level.
Mama Manneh, director of Njawara Agricultural Training Centre, and Alh. Lamin Ceesay, chairperson of Kerewan Area Council, commended the youth in the region for their selfless duty and function in promoting the implementation of development projects and programmes.
The officials renewed their commitment to working with youth groups towards the realization of the development objectives and improving livelihood.
