NAYPOD sensitises Siffoe youths

The Network of Adolescent and Youth on Population and Development (NAYPOD), The Gambia chapter recently completed a one-day sensitisation meeting on responsible reproductive health and sexual behaviours of the adolescent. The sensitisation meeting, which brought together youths from Sifoe and its surrounding, was held at the Child Fund the Gambia Complex in Sifoe.

In his opening remarks, the National Chairperson Network of Adolescent and Youth on Population and Development (NAYOD), Mr. Lamin Marong, said his organisation was adopted by country representatives at the International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD), held in Cairo, Egypt in September 1994.

He added that the aim of the campaign is to fight against HIV/AIDS, population, youth development and sexual reproductive health.

According to him, their goal is to contribute to the health of the adolescent and the development of the Gambian youths, and to also promote awareness on sexual and reproductive health.

For his part, the National Coordinator of the Group, Lamin Saidy described youths as the most vulnerable to sexual transmitted diseases and their desire is to meet various communities and sensitise youths on the threat of the disease.
