Our artistes should be tolerated in society

Jul 31, 2015, 12:17 PM

think that artistes should be tolerated in our society, free from cheap crime because the role of the artiste is to show us who we are that has eyes that look but don’t see, and the mind far too busy thinking about career, occupation and family.

The artistes make it a duty make us not to be too complacent. They being, creative, dreaming, enjoyment, passion (and pretty much everything else as well) with suggestions, encouragement, warnings, insight, fearless revelations, color and opinion in the form of theater, music, ballet, drama, film, dance and painting etc.

During the Renaissance, the advancement of Europe came from the artist such as Galileo, Michael Angelo, Leonard di Vinci and Machiavelli etc.

‘The aim of art is to represent not the outward appearance of things, but their inward significance. Artists changed the way we see the old world, old beliefs regarding the things we choose in life out of fear and purposeless opinion.

An artist should not be pulled into political parties unless they choose to do so. Like Stevie Wonders put it in his song HIGHER GROUND.

The artists are a person of FREE SPIRIT and we should let it be. Life imitates art far more than art imitates life.’ We should tolerate, support and protect our artists in The Gambia.

They will bring good changes in The Gambia if we pay more attention in the Arts. ‘Every great work of art has two faces, one towards its own time and one towards future, towards eternity.’‘
