Beakanyang donates disaster victims, others

The Barrow Kunda Beakanyang organisation recently donated clothing to disaster victims and women in the village of Wuli Barrow Kunda in the Upper River Region.

Speaking at the occasion, the board chairperson of Beakanyang, Yaya Sumareh reaffirmed their resolve in nation-building.

For his part, Foday Barrow, the Alkalo of the village applauded Bekanyang for the donation and commended the organisation for the active participation in the development of the community.

He used the opportunity to call on the parents to keep sending their children to school, thus highlighting the importance of education.

In his handing over speech, Mr. Nfamara Jawneh, the Secretary-General of the organisation reiterated their commitment to the socio-economic development of the country. He encouraged people to be always supportive to each other, especially during difficult moments.

The acting Disaster Management Coordinator of Beakanyang, Mr. Alkali Kebbeh said that since the organisation is a community initiative, they would always be responsive to the needs of the people.

The ceremony was punctuated with singing and dancing by the residents.
