NAWEC signs partnership with GTBank to sell Cash power with ATM

The Guaranty Trust Bank Gambia Limited (GTBank) and the National Water and Electricity Company (NAWEC) on Tuesday officially launched a Cash Power ATM Vending solution at a colorful ceremony held at GTBank Branch in Senegambia.

This product was launched upon an agreement entered between NAWEC and GTBank for a sale of prepaid electricity vouchers via cash power tokens through the use of the bank Automated Teller Machine (ATM).

In his welcome remarks, Mr Olufemi Omotoso, managing director of GTBank Gambia Limited expressed delight on behalf of the Bank for the development.

According to him, the innovation is yet another landmark achievement in the Gambian banking industry.

“Our continued leadership in innovative services, especially the technology driven products and service, has made us the preferred bank for our teeming many customers,” he said.

“As much as this gives us much satisfaction, we would also continue to strive to ensure that we do not disappoint you as we seek to surpass the expectation of our customers.”

He seized the opportunity to express gratitude to NAWEC for choosing GTBank as partners to make life easier for customers and Gambians at large in this financial inclusion initiative.

“We thank the Government of the Gambia and the Central Bank of the Gambia for providing a business friendly environment that has enabled us create a brighter future for banking in The Gambia as well as to build better and more customer friendly alternative channels in the country,” he added.

The Bank, he said, has 17 points where VISA Card/ATM quality services are being rendered to their customers and being the only principal agent of VISA card they issue in Gambian Dalasi does not only help Gambians access their funds in the millions of ATMs and point of sales terminals across the world but also support tourism by enabling tourists access their funds while on holiday in The Gambia.

The good news is also that our customers can now use all the 17 points to buy NAWEC Cash Power at any convenient time, and without a need to go through the stress of queuing, he said.

He also revealed that plans are also at advanced stage to add at least to 5 more ATMs in the next year. With this projection, our customers in Basse and Farafenni would also be able to buy CASH Power on our ATMs.

For his part, the Managing Director of NAWEC, Mr. Ebrima Sanyang expressed delight to be associated with this innovation.

According to him, this is the second product in West Africa and it exists only in Abuja and today it is a reality in The Gambia.

He thanked GTBank for the innovation and PURA for facilitating all the processes while furtherapplauding the Gambian leader for his approval and conducive environment created between NAWEC and the banking sector, particularly the GTBank.

The service will add value to not only the customers but every Gambian to have easy access to cash power 24/7, he said.

He further stated that the partnership has created an avenue for GTBank to have more cash flow from NAWEC as well as ensuring easy access to cash power.

He also urged all Gambians to partner and have current account to have ATM cards from GTBank so that in the absence of other network services they can have cash power service through using the ATM.

The managing director further commended GTBank for this initiative, adding that NAWEC has a very good relationship with GTBank.

Speakers on the occasion included the Managing Director of PURA, Abdoulie Jobe, who thanked both institutions for the partnership, saying he was very much impressed with the innovations and assured of PURA’s continued support in the process.
