The Gambia National Wrestling Association Committee yesterday held a press conference to acknowledge the media and its contribution to the development in the proposed upcoming national wrestling championship.
For his part, Abdul Aziz Titaw Mendy said that almost all the sub-committees such as the media, committees, among others that were formed in working on the progress of the upcoming proposed championship have already done their best.
Mr. Mendy added that some among the written institutions, companies have started responding, for which they are grateful.
He however appealed to others to come forward in enhancing the facilitation of the event.
For his part, Mamudou Max Jallow said they are yet to inform the public on the proposed date and the venue for the national championship but as soon as they get the green light from the President they would do so.
Jallow thanked the organizing committee for their collaboration and commitment. He also thanked the sponsors for their contributions to the development of wrestling.
He as well appealed to other institutions, companies, and individuals to invest in wrestling.
Max however reminded associations that are yet to register that the National Sports Council would only deal with those who register and fulfill their criteria, adding that 22 associations have already registered.
For his part, Pa Suwareh, Deputy Director of Youths and Sport, thanked the Ministry of Youth and Sports for the initiative and the associations for being committed.
Mr. Faye also thanked the sponsors as well as the media for the sensitization, adding that the ECOWAS competition will be held in Senegal from 8 to 10 June 2012.
