Ensa Camara, a
narcotics officer posted to Bansang Police Station, in Central River Region
(CRR), recently testified in the drug case
involving one Lamin Tamba, who was charged with being in possession of a big
bundle of suspected cannabis.
Camara told the Banjul Magistrates’ Court that on 24 October 2011, while they were on patrol to Dobang Kunda they saw the accused person with a bicycle at the outskirt of Bansang village.
They stopped him, identified themselves to him and told him they wanted to conduct a search on him, to which the accused agreed.
“We conducted a search on him, but nothing was found on him,” he said, adding that he later spotted a nylon bag on the bicycle which he searched and found inside a portion of it the suspected cannabis.
They effected arrest on the accused and took him to Bansang Police Station, where he was charged.
The case continues.
