Ebrima Kujabi, a narcotics officer, recently testified at the Banjul Magistrates’ Court in the case involving one Sheriffo Bojang, who was charged with being in possession of two bundles of suspected cannabis sativa.

Officer Kujabi told the court that on 9 October 2010, he received a call from an informer informing him that a man had come to him to sell two big bundles of suspected cannabis.

He said he instructed the informer to keep the accused there as he was on his way there, adding that he led a team of officers to the place.

“Upon arrival, the informer pretended that, we the officers, wanted to buy the cannabis and the accused then went to collect the suspected cannabis,” he said, adding that when the accused came with the cannabis, they effected arrest on him and took him to the station, where he obtained both cautionary and voluntary statements from the accused in the presence of an independent witness.

The case continues.
