The National Assembly Select Committee on Youth and Sport will Wednesday morning reveal the new date for the Gambia National Olympic Committee Presidential election at a press conference at the National Assembly Building in Banjul, following the completion of a report on the issue.

“The report has been finalised as well as the voter list of national associations and individuals. This will be announced at 9am Wednesday during a press conference,” Hon. Seedy Njie, vice-chairman of the Select Committee on Youth and Sports, told Pointsport yesterday.

Last week a meeting was proposed by the Select Committee but could not proceed as scheduled.

Headed by Hon. Alagi Sillah, the committee, mandated to steer the affairs of sport at the Assembly, was working to resolve the current GNOC impasse that has been pestering the national Olympic body for months.

Wrangling over the much-talked about GNOC presidential hot seat, vacated almost half a year ago by its former president Lang Tombong Tamba, is expected to have a clear dimension when the committee reveals its voter list.

The list was the centre of controversy that affected the initial voting process of the GNOC in October.
