Muhammed Camara receives 4th DAN award

Muhammed Camara, the Technical Director of The Gambia Karate Federation is the first Gambian to be decorated with an award of 4th DAN in Karate in Sunday's award ceremony at Baobab.

Three Senegalese officials from Senegal's Karate Federation: Momodou Jobe, Technical Director and JKA representative for the West Africa, Lamin Ceesay, Treasurer, Zone II Secretary-General and Chairperson of the Zone II Referee Committee and Lamin Gaye, Chairman of the organising committee conducted the award.

Another award winner Ebrima Dembo Tamba received 2nd DAN, while five masters in the names of Bala Sibi, Sheikh Conteh, Sarjo Bah, Serajo Camara and Kebba Sanyany were awarded with 1st DAN.

86 students were identified and were trained on various skills in the art, while various masters were examined on 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th DAN.

Speaking at the ceremony, the President of The Gambia Karate Federation, Alh. Musa A. Coker described the day as historic in the country.

Coker said that the training will have great impact as they were able to target the masters and trainers of various clubs.

He also stated that the Karate association will be travelling to Senegal in July, to participate in the Senegalese Open Karate Competition.

Coker then called on all Gambians to support The Gambia Karate Federation.

Others speakers included Momodou Jobe, the Technical Director and JKA representative for West Africa, Adbul Aziz Titawo Mendy, the Development Officer of the National Sports Council and Muhammed Camara, the Technical Director of the Gambia Karate Federation.
