MSA Staff Pleads Guilty to Stealing

Abdoulie Gibba, an employee of Maintenance Service Agency (MSA,) on Friday pleaded guilty to stealing.

Mr. Gibba was arraigned before Magistrate Abdoulie Mbake of the Kanifing Magistrates' Court charged with stealing by clerk or servant.

According to the charge sheet, Mr. Gibba on or about the 25th March 2009, at the Maintenance Service Agency stole six motor batteries belonging to MSA valued at D6000.

Narrating facts of the matter in court, the police prosecutor, Cadet Inspector Mballow, adduced that the accused after close of work returned to MSA.

He said that accused told the PIU officers on duty at the gate that he was going to fetch some water and was allowed in with his vehicle.

He said on his return, the vehicle was thoroughly searched by the PIU officers who came to discover that there were some batteries hidden under some empty gallons.

Subsequently the accused was arrested and taken to Kotu police station.
