The Ministry of Youth and Sports, in collaboration with National Sports Council (NSC), has set up a new five-man committee to steer the Gambia Football Federation.
This move has followed the suspension of GFF’s president Mustapha Kebbeh, first vice-president Buba Star Jammeh, second vice-president Kebba K. Touray and third vice-president Basirou Bajor in respect of The Gambia’s suspension from all CAF Competitions for two years by the Confederation of African Football.
Members of the new GFF Committee are Lamin Sanneh, permanent secretary at the Ministry of Local Government and Lands, Ba S. Jabbi, Malick Mbye, Haddy Sillah and Famara Colley.
The minister of Youth and Sports, Alieu K. Jammeh, said the four GFF officials were suspended for violating the National Sports Council’s Act and for also failing to fulfill their obligations and responsibilities.
Minister Jammeh thanked the media for their contribution to the development of sport in the country, encouraging them to keep it up.
According to Minister Jammeh, the new committee will continue with the current national leagues and is expected to also find sponsorship for the leagues.
