The Ministry of Health and Social Welfare has announced that they are working in partnership with Mecenat Chirurgie Cardiaque of France to provide free screening for cardiac and heart diseases in children aged 0 to 17 years with the possibility of treatment and care mainly in France.
According to a press release issued by the Ministry, the Mecenat Chirurgie Cardiaque is a renowned international charitable organization specializing in heart diseases that wishes to extend its valuable and life-saving services to the wider Gambian community.
“The mission comprising top cardiac surgeons will be visiting The Gambia and planning to conduct consultations from Monday 24th September through to Thursday 27th September, 2012 at the New Serrekunda Hospital in Kanifing Estate,” the dispatch adds.
The Ministry urges all parents, guardians and healthcare providers who have children under the age of 17 years suffering from any form of cardiac or heart diseases, to report to the hospital before the specified period and register themselves with the secretary to the Chief Executive Officer of the Serrekunda Hospital.
“These parents or guardians will be conducted for scheduling of appointments during the above specified period. We hope this great opportunity will be adequately utilised by the general public,” the statement concludes.
