Modou
O. Njie of Leeds United was on Saturday 5 August 2017 elected as President of
the Serrekunda East Sports Development Organisation at a congress held at the
KMC hall in Kanifing.
The
congress brought together stakeholders from different clubs. They converged to
review the constitution and adopt it as well as elect the new executive that
would steer the affairs of (SESDO) for the next four years.
In
his opening remarks, Bakary Paco Dampha, president of KM regional sport, said
they believe when the time is right for something to happen it will and when it
is not it won’t.
Dampha
apologised to team representatives for the way things unfolded in the past.
After
the conclusion of the review of the constitution and adoption of the
constitution, the following were elected: Modou O. Njie of Leeds United as
president, Babucarr Bailo Jallow of Maccassa FC as 1st Vice president,
Abdourahman Bah of Abuko as 2nd Vice
president, Nyawuru Comma of T. Central as Secretary General, Sheriffo Nyassi of
T. Central as Asst. Secretary General,
Babucarr Cham of Milan FC as
Treasurer, Ebrima Cham of Ebbeh Gi United as Asst. Treasurer, Mamat Gaye
of Zurich as Auditor, Alkali Jammeh of Zurich as PRO and Ebou Conteh of Zurich
as Programme officer for football.
Speaking
after his inauguration as president, Modou O. Njie, said it had been a long
struggle, but expressed his readiness never to budge or give up.
He
also expressed his readiness to work with all and sundry for the development of
the zone.
According
to Njie, they plan to establish a thing-tank so as to work for the betterment
of Serrekunda East.
In
conclusion he challenged his executive committee to work with dedication,
commitment and hard work for the betterment of the zone.
