Magistrate Nkea of the Brikama Magistrates' Court recently convicted and sentenced one Omar Janneh, a resident of Brikama, to a fine of D1, 000 in default to serve three months in prison for stealing from a dwelling house.

According to the particulars of the offence, Omar Janneh on 5th September 2010 at Brikama Hawla Kunda entered the house of one Alieu Ceesay, and therein stole two mobile phones.

The convict in his plea of mitigation begged the court to temper justice with mercy, saying that the reason why he stole the two mobile phones was because the Koriteh prayer was approaching.

He also begged the court for lenience, since he is a first-time offender, and also a student.

In passing sentence, Magistrate Nkea stated that he heard the mitigation plea, but the court would also have to consider the offence committed.

He consequently sentenced him accordingly.
