The Gambia Methodist Academy has come out with flying colours in this year’s Gambia Basic Education Certificate Examination (GABECE), with 10 of its students scoring aggregate 6.
A press release from the ministry of Basic and Secondary Education showed that of a total of 29 candidates that scored aggregate 6 in 2012, which saw an increase of 8, 10 are from the Gambia Methodist Academy, 4 from SOS Herman Gmeiner, 3 from Charles Jaw Academy, 3 from St Therese Kanifing, 2 from Latrikunda.
The release also showed 1 from Abuko, 1 from Brikama, 1 from Brikama Methodist, 1 from Keneba, 1 from Kombo Kerewan, 1 from Latrikunda Sabiji and 1 from St Augustines.
The total number of candidates who entered for the examination, the release went on, was 21, 096 students of which 10, 293 were male and 10, 803 female.
The release further stated that admission to grade 10 should be based on passes in core subjects to be decided by the board of governors, and not exceeding aggregate 42.
