Seedy Jallow and Buba Saine were on 24thDecember 2008 found guilty of robbery by the Kanifing Magistrates' Court presided over by senior Magistrate Abdoulie Mbacke.
They were each convicted and sentenced to a fine of D3000 each in default to serve three months imprisonment. The convicts were also ordered to compensate the complainant the sum of D600 each in default to serve another three months imprisonment.
In his judgement, Magistrate Mbacke stated that the prosecution had proved its case beyond reasonable doubt. He went on to say that the evidence before the court showed that the convicts committed the offence and that they were not truthful and could not be trusted.
In their plea of mitigation both the convicts begged the court for mercy and also craved the court indulgence to temper justice with mercy as they are breadwinners in their respective families.
