The Mauritania national football team (Maurabitones) is expected in The Gambia on Sunday 24 February 2013 to play two international friendly matches against The Gambia national football team (Scorpions).

The two friendly matches will be played on Wednesday 27 February and 2 March 2013 as part of both countries’ technical preparations for the coming World Cup qualifiers, CHAN, and other CAF competitions.

The warm-ups will also avail both countries the opportunity to further cement the already friendly ties between them, GFA media officer Bakary B. Baldeh has said.

The Scorpions, whose FIFA rankings have continued to worsen in recent times with the most recent filings this month at 145th position in the world and 45th in Africa, are expected to play Ivory Coast in March in the FIFA qualifiers.

In order to further elaborate on the above subject matter, the Normalisation Committee is hereby announcing that a media briefing will be held on Thursday 21 February 2013 at the GFA House in Kanifing at 11:00am prompt.
