Darussalam FC of Manjai Kunda defeated Royal 7 FC of Kololi 4-0 in the Manjai Super Cup/Alkalo’s trophy held at the Father Gough Sports Complex in Manjai Kunda last Friday.
Modou Manneh opened the score through a penalty kick awarded in the 11th minute of the game.
Later in the 27th minute, Lamin Daffeh doubled the score with a splendid effort from within a tight marking.
However, Modou Manneh netted the third goal in the 63rd minutes from a close range to dash the hopes of their opponents.
In the 20th minute of the game, Royal 7 FC could have secured a goal to take the score to 3 - 1 but were denied by Darusalam, who secured their fourth goal in the 71st minute through the effort of Fally Cham.
At the end of the championship, the runners-up were given a consolation prize of D4,000 while the champions went home with D6,000 and a giant trophy.
Speaking to reporters after the final clash, Mamadou Salieu Gomez, Alkalo of Manjai Kunda, expressed delight over the “marvelous performance” put up by both teams.
“It was one of the best finals held since the inception of the Super Cup,” Alkalo Gomez said.
While thanking the teams for their participation and commitment to the tournament, Mr Gomez also urges the players to take sport seriously.
