Marina Legal Battle to Resume Next Month

Jun 23, 2008, 6:38 AM | Article By: By Dawda Faye

The legal battle between the principal of Marina International School, one Mr. Hakeem Akorede and the school's board of directors will now resume on June 3.

The case was among cases that were supposed to proceed on 19 June 2008, but the plaintiff, Hakeem Akorede, a teacher with the school, was not present in court. His wife, who represented him at the court, said her husband had been taken ill and could not consequently make it to the court.

Mr. Hakeem, readers may recall, has instituted a suit against the Principal of Marina International School, Ms. Patricia Lamour, and the school's board to show cause why he should be punished for insubordination and his inability to attend meetings with the education committee of the school despite evidence of illness.

Hakeem also wants the principal and the school to tell him why he should be suspended indefinitely without pay.
