Marina International School recently held its annual speech and prize giving ceremony at the school campus, which was attended by students, teachers, legal practitioners, educationists, parents and people from other walks of life.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Principal of the school, Musa O. Sanneh, said the event was dedicated to recognizing and appreciating the achievement of those students who passed the end-of-year examination with distinction.

He said the event was also to recognise those who made tremendous efforts in self-improvement and those who excelled in sport and raised Marina school’s flag higher at inter-school competitions.

He thanked and conveyed his sincere appreciation and gratitude to all board members as well as the parents of the students, who in their various ways consoled and sympathized with their family members and the loved ones.

Mr Sanneh revealed that the request for admission and even transfer from similar schools are on the increase because of the quality of teaching and learning the school is providing, adding that going by the practical demonstration of their goodwill matched by positive action and taking on many issues so far, it was logical that the board would continue to maintain their status and lead over competitors by leaps and bounds.

Sanneh pointed out that the support and active participation of parents in all school activities, including attendance at meeting and fundraising event was central in moving the school to a higher height.

The guest speaker at the ceremony, Bakary Malick Houma, alluded that this year’s theme is very appropriate, because even the children who are at a tender age are technology oriented.

He added that social media is transforming old form of information dissemination but urged the children to resist the negative part of it.

Mr Houma noted that they should not compromise their moral and character, and urged the students to devote their time and attention on education.

The programme was punctuated with the distribution of prizes to the deserving students.
