Manjai have extended their lead in the ongoing Skye Bank Gambia Limited-sponsored Super Nawettan zonal football competition after their slender 2-1 win in a group A game played at the Father Gough Sports Complex in Manjai Kunda on Wednesday.

Manjai came into the game with 3 points after beating Sukuta 3-2 in their opening group A game on Monday.

Brufut came with a single point following their 1-1 draw with 2012 Super Nawettan champions Brikama in the Super Nawettanopener on Sunday.

Both sides made a promising start to the game and launched several goal-scoring opportunities but it were Manjai who were clinical in front and banged in two stunning goals to register their second successive victory as well as maintain their hundred percent record in the competition.

Brufut fought back for an equalizer but managed to pull back 1, which eventually proved to be a consolation goal for the coast town boys. They need to win their remaining games to keep their hopes of qualifying for the quarterfinal.

Sukuta’s poor run of form continues in the 2013 Skye Bank Gambia Limited-sponsored Super Nawettan Zonal football competition after their 1-0 defeat to Serrekunda West in a mouth-watering clash at the Serrekunda East Mini Stadium.

Elsewhere, 2012 Super Nawettan champions Brikama were held to a goalless draw by Gunjur in a tricky tie played at the Brikama Box Bar Mini Stadium on the same day.

Manjai are still leading group A with maximum 6 points in two outings; Serrekunda West are 2nd position with 4 points in two games; Brikama and Gunjur are 3rd and 4th places respectively with 2 points each in two games.

Brufut are occupying 5th place with 1 point in two games, while Sukuta are rooted at the bottom of group A with zero point in two games after losing to Manjai 3-2 and Serrekunda West 1-0.
