Magistrate Gomez of the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court recently cautioned and discharged one Alieu Ceesay.
However, Ceesay was ordered to pay a compensation of D65,000 in default to serve six months in prison, after he was found guilty of stealing.
The compensation should be paid on or before 15 December 2015.
The charge sheet presented before the court stated that Alieu Ceesay, some time in December 2013 and 2014 at Kololi in the Kanifing Municipality, fraudulently converted the sum of D65,000 being monies given to him by one George Diamacoune to pay capital gains tax, open an account for one Abbie Joof and also lease a compound.
