Magistrate Lamin George of the Bundung Magistrates' Court recently convicted and sentenced one Yusupha Touray to serve two years mandatory jail term for burglary and stealing. Narrating the facts of the case, the Prosecuting Officer, First class 3466 Sawaneh, stated that it happened on 25th January 2010, at Brufut Town, when the complainant who was on his way home met with the convict at his gate with a bag of cement.
According to him, the convict immediately discarded the bag of cement and attempted to run away, but was subsequently apprehended and taken to Brusubi Police Station.
In his plea of mitigation, the convict told the court that he was sorry for what he had done, as stealing was not his habit.
