Gambia Women U-17 coach optimistic

Following his side’s slender 1-0 win over Tunisia Women U-17 team in the first leg of the second round tie of the 2012 FIFA U-17 World Cup qualifiers at the weekend, the head coach of the Gambia Women U-17 National team, Buba Jallow, has expressed optimism that his team “will qualify for the tournament” despite his side’s narrow lead in the first leg.

Coach Jallow made these remarks shortly after the game against Tunisia at the Brikama Box Bar Mini-stadium.

According to coach Jallow, his team missed a lot of chances but managed to score at least one goal that put them on the right path in their quest to qualify for FIFA U-17 Women Cup.

He stated that they will prepare very well for the return leg which, will not be easy because the Tunisians will make all efforts and do what they can to cancel the 1-0 deficit.

Kebaili Salah, head coach of Tunisia Women U-17 National team, said he was impressed with the performance of his team despite losing to The Gambia. The Gambia have a very good team and physically fit than his players, he averred.

He stated that the weather also affected the performance of his boys, which contributed to his team’s defeat against The Gambia.

Coach Salah however expressed confidence that his team will overturn the 1-0 deficit in the return leg in two weeks’ time.
