A man called Abdou Jarju, was recently convicted and sentenced to a fine of D250 in default to serve one day in prison.
Magistrate Drammeh administered the sentence following the convict Abdou Jarju’s plea of guilt of the offence of common assault.
The facts of the case as narrated by 1st Class 3084 Ceesay stated that on 1 February 2011, at Pipeline, the complainant, Mariama Badjie, went to the convict’s working place and heard people calling the convict a soldier.
She said the complainant then told the convict that you are not a soldier but a watchman and the convict told the complainant not to call him a watchman.
Officer Ceesay further narrated that there was exchange of words and the convict eventually pushed the complainant and she fell down, adding that the matter was reported to the Kairaba Police Station.
