Magistrate
Isatou Janneh of the Bundung Magistrates’ Court, recently convicted and
sentenced one Momodou Bojang to a fine of D1,500, in default to serve 2-month
imprisonment.
Momodou Bojang, who was convicted for the offence of wilful damage to property, was ordered to pay a compensation of D5,000, in default to serve 6-month imprisonment.
According to the particulars of offence, on 9 August 2014, at Sukuta village, Kombo North, West Coast Region, the convict damaged 30 corrugated iron sheets, 4kilos of maize, 9 pieces of red timber, 2 pieces of white timbers, and 2 locks, the property of the Women Federation Market in Sukuta.
When the charge sheet was read over to him in the language he claimed to understand, he pleaded guilty to the charge preferred against him and was convicted and sentenced accordingly.
