Man convicted for possession of fake bank notes

Magistrate Tabally of the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court recently convicted and sentenced one Abdoulie Touray to a fine of D10,000 in default to serve six months in prison upon his own plea of guilty to being in possession of fake bank notes.

According to the charge sheet, on 21st November 2010 at Serrekunda Market in the Kanifing Municipality, the convicted person, Abdoulie Touray, was found in possession of two thousand eight hundred United States dollars in fake bank notes and ten thousand Franc also forged notes, and attempted to distribute the same to the market.

In a separate development, one Pa Sanneh was also convicted and sentenced to a fine of D1,000 in default to serve one month in prison, upon his own plea of guilty to a charge of assault, by Magistrate Tabally of the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court.

The charge sheet revealed that on 17th December 2010 at Bakau Kachically, the convicted person, Pa Sanneh, assaulted one Waka Jammeh by slapping him.
