A
man called Modou Colley was yesterday arraigned before Magistrate Mbye of the
Kanifing Magistrates’ Court for allegedly obtaining money by false pretence.
He denied the charge and was granted court bail of D700,000 with two Gambian sureties who must deposit their ID cards.
The charge sheet presented to the court stated that the accused, Modou Colley, between January and June 2010, in diverse places within the Kanifing Municipality, by false pretence and with intent to defraud, obtained from one Momodou Barry and Saikou Ceesay, the sum of D400,000 and D245,000 respectively, with the pretext that he was going to pray for them to travel and also to make them great rich men, which representation was false and he knew it to be false at the time.
Hearing was adjourned till 19 August 2015.
