Principal Magistrate Abeke of the Brikama Magistrates’ Court recently discharged and acquitted one Assadick A.G Herlass, a Malian national, on a charge of going armed in public.
Delivering his judgement, Magistrate Abeke stated that the accused was charged with the offence of going armed in public, which he denied.
He said the accused was caught with six knives and two swords at the Giboro Police Post.
He added that the prosecution had called in two witnesses in support of their case, whilst the accused testified on his own behalf.
Still on his judgement, the trial magistrate stated that the accused, when adducing his evidence, tendered some documents that proved to the court that he was a blacksmith and did make the knives.
He revealed that the prosecution had failed to make proper investigation in connection with the matter and had woefully failed to prove their case beyond reasonable doubt.
He consequently discharged and acquitted the accused accordingly.
