Impersonator convicted

A man called Alagie Sanneh was recently convicted and sentenced to a fine of D5,000 in default to serve three years in prison with hard labour, by the Brikama Magistrates’ Court presided over by Magistrate Abeke.

The charge sheet on count one stated that on 13 June 2011, at Kunkujang Village, Kombo North, West Coast Region, the accused, Alagie Sanneh, represented himself to one Fansainey Sanneh that he was a police officer, which he knew to be false.

Count two read that on the same date and place Alagie Sanneh obtained D700 from the said Fansainey Sanneh with the representation that he was going to give it to the Director of Prisons so that one Saikou Badjie, a convict, could be released from custody at the State Central Prisons of Mile 2, which he knew to be false.
