Magistrate Abeke of the Kanifing Magistrates’ Court on 25 July 2017, warned the members of the public not to record court proceedings on their mobile phones.

He said that if anybody was caught recording court proceedings on his or her mobile phone, the person would be sent to Mile 2 prisons immediately, and if the person comes out from Mile 2 prisons, he or she would tell the court why they recorded the court proceedings on the mobile phone.

He further stated that recently somebody recorded court proceedings on his mobile phone and posted it on the internet.

He informed the court that someone then threatened to take the life of the prosecutor in the case.

“This is unacceptable. I warn you all,” he cautioned.
