LRR youth elect new executive

The youth of Lower River Region on 22 August 2015 elected new executive members for their regional youth committee.

The new executive will be at the helm of affairs of the committee for the next two years.

The elective congress, held at the Jarra Soma mini-stadium, was presided over by officials of the National Youth Council and the Ministry of Youth and Sports.

Saikou Darboe of Jarra West was elected chairperson and Karamo Manjang assistant chair.Almamo Dibba and Alhasan Bah - all from Jarra West - were elected treasurer and public relations officer respectively.

Meanwhile, the youth officer of the Ministry of Youth will serve as secretary to the executive while each of the six district chairpersons serve as members.There will also be female representative on the committee.

Officials of the NYC who presided over the electoral process said the new executive committee is expected to uphold the principle of good governance and hard work in the service of youth development.

In his victory speech, the LRR Youth Chairman-elect, Saikou Darboe, promised to apply his development skills to upgrade youth development in the region.
