Lebanese community commemorates 'Mauld Nabi'

The Lebanese community in The Gambia and Ahl Albait Islamic Organization last Saturday commemorated the most blessed occasion of the birth of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH).

The ceremony, held at the Ahl Albait Islamic ground opposite Pipeline Mosque in Fajara, brought together imams from different areas.

Speaking shortly after the event, the Imam of the Lebanese Ummah, Sheikh Rabih Farhat, said their community has for the past 15 years been observing the occassion of thebirth of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH).

Imam Farhat emphasised the need for the commemoration of the birth of Prophet Mohammad as leader of the Muslim Ummah.

He seized the opportunity to admonish the Muslim Ummah to come under one umbrella and be united, quoting related verses on unity from the Holy Quran.

On behalf of the Lebanese community, Imam Farhat extended appreciation to the Government and people of The Gambia.

The occasion was graced with recitation of the Holy Quran, preaching, and entertaining performance by children.
