Ebou Sowe FC, alias Heart of Banjul were on Sunday crowned champions of the
Bayba Financial-sponsored Banjul knockout tournament after defeating FC Warriors 1-0 in the final played at the
KG5 Mini-stadium in Banjul.
Ousainou
Trawally’s fine header in the 76th minute of the second half was all but enough
to crown his side the knockout champions of Banjul Nawetan.
Late
Ebou Sowe defeated Jamesen 2-0 in the semifinal to book their place in the
final, while FC Warriors who many believed to be the favorite of winning the
knockout judging it from their form since the start of the tournament, also
eliminated MacDonald United 2-1 in the semifinal.
As
winners Late Ebou Sowe (Heart of Banjul) were given a giant trophy and a cash
prize of D35, 000, while the runners-up were given a consolation prize of D25,
000.
Meanwhile both teams, Late Ebou Sowe and FC
Warriors will next meet again this time on Friday 1 November in the final of
the Canon-sponsored Banjul league Nawettan to be played at the Banjul KG5
mini-stadium.
