Lanuja FC Tuesday beat NAS FC 9-8 on post-match penalty shootouts in the first quarterfinal game, to advance to the semifinal of the ongoing Gunjur Nawetan championship.
The winning end game came after a 1-1 draw in the regulation time of the encounter played at the Gunjur Nyamina Football Field.
NAS FC opened the scoring through Ousman Jabang, alias Frank Lampard, in the 15th minute of the game when he took a superb strike to give his side the lead.
After Ousman Jabang’s opener, the stunning NAS FC side continued to dominate and created numerous golden goal-scoring opportunities but squandered all of them, thus the first-half ended 1-0 in favour of NAS.
Upon resumption of the second half, Lanuja FC strengthened their midfield and came all out for an equalizer creating numerous goal-scoring opportunities, which paid dividends in the 70th minute of the game when wing wizard Basiru Touray, alias Fabregas, grabbed the equalizer from a spectacular strike to level the score for Lanuja FC.
This sent the game into post-match penalty shootout which ended 9-8 in favour of Lanuja FC to book a place in the semifinal.
